On 21-22 JUN 2013, members of Ionia Flight set up a Community Relations / Recruiting booth at the Summer in the City festival on Main Street in Ionia. A replica of Dr. Robert Goddard's first liquid fueled rocket, built in 1926, was on display. Some modern examples were on display as well to demonstrate how rocketry has evolved to what we see today. A radio controlled Cessna 182 was also on display to show visitors what CAP uses in its Emergency Services missions. The highlight of the day was definitely the Stomp Rockets! Children below the age of 10 were able to launch small rockets by stomping on an air bladder. Ionia Flight looks forward to coming back next year! In the meantime, another booth will be set up at Ionia Bertha Brock Park for the Ionia Fall Fest this year!
